How Much Money Did The Harry Potter Actors Make

When it comes to some of the highest-grossing movies of all time, the many Harry Potter films certainly come to mind! Not only did the film come out with 8 different installments, but it went on to gross nearly $10 billion worldwide. The movies, which were inspired by the books written by J.K Rowling, now only scored the actors some major coin, but it turned Rowling into the very first billionaire author.

With the movie making so much many, it's only reasonable that fans have been wondering how much the Harry Potter actors made in their involvement in all 8 films. Although it goes without saying that Daniel Radcliffe, who at the height of his career, was taking home $15 million annually, is the richest, however, where do the other Harry Potter cast stand in comparison? Let's find out!

Updated on August 17, 2021, by Michael Chaar: There's no denying the success the Harry Potter films achieved and considering the billions the franchise grosses, it's only fitting to wonder how much the Harry Potter cast earned! Well, Daniel Radcliffe takes the cake with his $100 million net worth, however, the main cast doesn't fall too far behind. Emma Watson has an impressive worth of $85 million, while Rupert Grint comes in at $50 million. As for salaries per film, it was revealed that Radcliffe took home $1 million for the very first film, $3 million for the second, $6 million for the third, and by the time he was only 15 years old, Daniel Radcliffe earned $10 million per film. Considering his final film salary reached a whopping $15 million, it's safe to say the other Harry Potter actors were earning similar figures.

11 Robbie Coltrane - $4 Million

He played the poor half-giant Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies well, but Robbie Coltrane is in fact a clean-shaven and short-haired man known for wearing snazzy suits in premieres. The actor has exclusively been seen in supporting roles throughout his career, which explains why he isn't all that rich, and by "all that rich", we mean $4 million.

Robbie was usually the fourth billed cast member in the films, meaning he probably saw hefty paychecks in his ten-year tenure as Hagrid. It doesn't seem like his earnings figures matter much to Robbie, seeing as he's always his jovial self. Since 2016, he hosted a non-fiction series, Robbie Coltrane Critical Evidence.

10 Matthew Lewis - $10 Million

Like many of his Harry Potter castmates, we haven't heard much of Matthew's days since his time as Neville Longbottom came to an end. The only two things we know of him is that he got married and that he did some modeling work

So, either his Harry Potter pay was very large, or his work as a model paid the big bucks because Matthew finds himself worth $10 million. It's hard to imagine him keeping this much money from his Harry Potter earnings, so he must be doing something right.

9 Maggie Smith - $20 Million

Despite her more recent role in Downton Abbey, Dame Maggie's fortune is another big surprise in this, since it's "only" $20 million. The surprise is valid, seeing as Maggie has achieved everything there is in acting and has been both a leading actress and a supporting actress. She's also an Oscar winner and one of the biggest names of her time; something that lasts to this day.

Perhaps it's because the salary scale wasn't close to how high it is today for actors because that's the only explanation we can come up with for Maggie's net worth figure.

8 Tom Felton - $20 Million

Now, we get to the meaty part where both your interest increases by the names mentioned and the net worth figure also rises. Tom Felton starts things off here by being the richest young cast member outside of the main golden trio, so rich he's worth $20 million!

He was a draw for the audience as Draco Malfoy, and like his character, Tom is incredibly rich. Without the attitude, thankfully. He's continued roles in Hollywood, and we saw him most recently on The CW's The Flash.

7 Ralph Fiennes - $50 Million

Ralph has been a leading man in many well-known works but is generally better known as playing the villain in many productions, including In Bruges and the Harry Potter series. But his estate is nothing to be scoffed at, especially because he's relatively younger than most of the people we've named so far.

His work in the James Bond series will probably inflate his fortune even further, considering the last two Bond films are among the highest-grossing films of all time. Luckily for Fiennes, his time in the biz has allowed him to earn a whopping $50 million net worth.

6 Emma Thompson - $50 Million

You could call Emma the female version of Gary Oldman, as she's also been active for decades and has been magnificent in a wide range of roles – both on and off-screen. Her Academy Award was for writing the Best Screenplay, signifying her remarkable talent in the business, one that amassed her a net worth of $50 million.

In the Harry Potter movies, she played the kooky Professor Trelawney and earned every dollar she got for the role by bringing us many hilarious scenes to watch. She's still continuing those performances and most recently is in MIB: International.

5 Rupert Grint - $50 Million

While he was part of the trio, Rupert isn't as rich as some others, mainly because he's shied away quite a lot from the screen since his Harry Potter days. In an interview years earlier, he even admitted surprise at being paid so much as a child star and wasn't sure what to do with his life now that he was financially secure.

Due to this kind of soul searching, Rupert hasn't been seen much and settled with his $50 million net worth for the time being. He welcomed his first child with his girlfriend Georgia Groome.

4 Helena Bonham Carter - $60 Million

Helena only joined the cast in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but you must have noticed her part was much larger than any other villain's. She was a huge name in the business and got additional scenes for herself in order for the studio to get the most value out of paying her salary. She starred in Fight Club and often played British heroines, roles that allowed her to earn a net worth of $60 million.

She's of course best known for starring in a number of Tim Burton projects, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Planet of the Apes, among others, and such consistent work has enabled her to stand tall with a very impressive earnings figure. Carter went on to take on the role of Princess Margaret in the hit Netflix series, The Crown.

3 Emma Watson - $85 Million

She's been outspoken (and at times annoying) with the many causes she's supported over the years, but that's all because she has enough time to focus on them thanks to her $85 million net worth. Emma's second major role, apart from Hermione, was in Beauty and the Beast – a film that attracted $1.2 Billion at the box office.

Emma has been active in modeling right from the start, which must contribute to her large sum of earnings as well. She's set to appear in many more films in the near future, so it's a matter of time before she gets into three digits in the millionaire category.

2 Robert Pattinson - $100 Million

Robert had just the one appearance in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but becoming Cedric Diggory was the springboard for the success he needed to land his star-making role in the Twilight saga. Since appearing in that series, Robert has become a superstar adored by millions of ladies around the globe, amassing a net worth of $100 million doing so!

He's a fantastic actor to boot, having appeared in independent films like Good Time, High Life, and Damsel, all of which display his sheer class. With The Batman now beckoning, Robert is set to top this list in the future.

1 Daniel Radcliffe - $110 Million

Obviously, the main character of the series was going to be the first name here. Daniel Radcliffe was also the top-billed star in the franchise, which gave him enormous exposure to succeed.

You can find Daniel on Broadway, film, television, theater, and even on some YouTube videos. He's tried his hand (and succeeded) in every venture there is in acting, which means he's earned all of the $110 million he possesses. Then again, Harry Potter is said to have contributed $95 million to him, so clearly he made the most money from the franchise.
